![]() ![]() ![]() This is one of many instances where Lin’s visual’s are much improved. The show then fades out from water stains on the ceiling to the city manager’s bunt out eyes on a mortuary table. The episode starts with a close up opening monologue from Vaughn where he’s looking up at two inexplicable water stains on his ceiling before coming to the realizing that “It’s all paper mache” What exactly? As the episode moves forward, you learn almost everything in his life as the character has lost five million dollars in his investment in the railroad project after Vinci’s city manager was found dead. In this seasons second episode, writer/show runner Nic Pizzolatto get’s his swagger back, the new actors mostly live up to expectations and Justin Lin justifies his place on the show with a strong visual narrative and direction. ![]() While I didn’t think the first episode was bad per say, it wasn’t the best we’ve seen from the show by any means. ![]() My reaction was a little more positive but that was from more of a wait and see approach to the series. In the first episode of True Detectives thisseason, the reaction was mixed from critics who pointed out problematic aspects of the series return. ![]()
